Missing My Husband!

After being away from Chris for 10 days while his truck was broke down I got to spend about 1 glorious week with him before they sent him off to Canada.

He headed out and I headed home to see family.  Getting to see family is wonderful, don't get me wrong, but I still miss my husband.  I spent the first night in a motel because I always need at least one night to feel sorry for myself and get out of my separation depression.  I spent a couple of days in Amarillo with my daughter which is always a wonderful time.  We went and got our Mani/Pedi's and did a little shopping.  I also finally had a chance to have lunch with one of my closest friends and do some much needed catching up.

Then it was off to Dalhart to see Mom and Dad and work on driving them crazy.  OK, pretty easy to do, but I still love doing it.  I have the most loving parents any child could ever dream to have.  I am so glad they put up with me and all my quirks.  While I was there I got a text from one of my and Chris' friends.  He had broke down in Dalhart.  Nice coincidence that he happened to break down in the town where I was!  I went and visited with him while they were deciding what to do with his truck and then took him over to my parents for awhile before taking him to his motel.  They got his truck running and he left the next morning to go meet up with Chris. (Lucky)

I went to Ulysses on Sunday to see Chris' grand kids.  Of course, I saw his kids too, but I went for the grand kids.  Chris has such a terrific family and I really love how they have accepted me into their lives.  Poor Eric has inherited his fathers dorkiness, which always makes me laugh.  The grand kids are all growing up so fast.  I wish we could see them more often and really wish Chris could have been with me to visit them.  Eric and Evan were out riding dirt bikes and Eric tried to get me to ride with him but there was no way that was happening.  I break easily and mend slowly!  Amanda is barely starting to show with Chris' latest grandchild, a boy this time.  Her second child and Chris' 5th grandchild.  I am so excited about being there when this one makes his appearance into the world in January. Chelsea constantly amazes me with all she does.  She is such a terrific wife and mother.

I made it back to Dalhart on Sunday night and headed back to Amarillo on Monday morning.  Two of my tires that I had bought a couple of months ago had been recalled.  I had to get new ones and then needed to get my oil changed and pickup inspected.  I am now ready for our next project.  I had lunch with my daughter and we did a little running around.

Next I headed off to see my sister and nephew in Sunray.  I ended up driving through a terrible thunderstorm to get there.  Traffic was only traveling about 35 mph most of the way because it was so bad.  Winds were up to about 40 mph and rain was coming down so hard you couldn't see the road.  I later learned that Amarillo didn't get any rain and that although Dalhart got the rain, they didn't get the wind.  I guess I was one of the lucky ones that got both.  I did get to have a good visit with my sister and nephew.  I love how she painted her house.  They did an excellent job.  I made it back to Dalhart just in time for supper for which my mother had cooked one of my favorite meals.

Now I am just waiting to see if my husband is ever going to get to leave Canada.  He has had the worst luck up there.  He has to take other drivers loads in for them because they don't have passports.  On his first load he got a ticket for almost $3,000.  (No, that isn't a typo.)  Apparently the company that loaded the trailer didn't put the axles where they were supposed to be and the driver that had the load didn't move them and Chris didn't know they were supposed to be moved.  So Chris is the one that got stuck with the ticket.  Really doesn't seem fair to me.  Now that Chris is loaded with a load that he is supposed to bring back to Texas, he found out after driving 4 hours to get to the truck stop and weigh it, that it is overweight.  He has to drive back and get some of the material off.

I am feeling so bad for him.  He hasn't been out of the truck since Easter.  He request a vacation a couple of weeks ago but didn't get it.  He requested home time for when he came back from Canada but doesn't look like he is going to get that either.  He has been told that he has to be in Pennsylvania by the 21st.  Not sure how he is going to make that happen if he isn't going to be able to be back to Texas before the 18th to get the blade trailer.

We are supposed to be taking some blades from Pennsylvania to Minnesota.  Not sure how many or with whom we will be running yet.  Just hope Chris makes it back in time.

Mostly just wish Chris makes it back safe into my waiting arms.  I miss you babe!
